Measurements - Shoes
Shoe Height
Measure the back of the shoe from the bottom of the heel to the top of the shoe. Measure inside shoe from toe to back of heel. Measure shoe at widest point of sole front.
Heel Height
Measure the back of the heel, from where it connects to the shoe at the top to the heel cap at the bottom.
Platform Height
Measure from the bottom of the sole to where it connects to the shoe at the top of the platform.

VINTAGE ITEMS AND MEASUREMENTS
Please keep in mind all items are vintage worn or vintage new, never worn and stored with care. Some items are 20 to 75 years old. I note in every item description all flaws as well as any damage such as loose and missing seam stitches or missing hook and eye closures, age spots, discoloration, etc. Things can happen as vintage clothes age even if the item was stored well. It is still a special and one of a kind piece. I am super nice with questions and answers! Do not hesitate to contact or email me through Etsy messaging with any questions you may have before you buy. I want this to be a positive experience for all.
If at any time I find something missed upon another inspection of clothing, I will disclose in the listing immediately.
HudsonFlowVintage clothing and accessories are priced fairly by era, condition and style. The majority of clothing sold is in excellent or mint condition with no flaws or very little flaw. Some items are new deadstock, never worn.
MEASUREMENTS
Please remember to add an extra inch to an inch and a half for older vintage items to keep seam strength intact.
If you are not sure of your measurements use a soft measuring tape and measure bust, waist and hips. Do not measure with tape too tight. Leave a little breathing room. Vintage sizes are not comparable to contemporary sizing today. Women who wore these garments usually wore some sort of foundation to cinch the waist or shape the bust. So make sure to measure twice! Sometimes help is needed to take measurements properly. There is a sizing chart below the description of items to help when taking measurements.
All garments are measured flat across. I have doubled the measurements for the bust, waist and hips in parentheses for those who like to see the exact measurements.
Please remember computer screens and lighting can show colors differently! We have tried to be as accurate as possible with color descriptions. In some of the photos, I have brighter lighting to show details of any flaws in the item. The photos depict the most accurate color of the garment.
VINTAGE CONDITION GRADING CHART
Mint/Perfect: A rare find. No-f laws.
Near Mint: The article is like new with a slight unnoticeable flaw.
Excellent: Noted minor flaws, do not compromise wear of item.
Very Good: Minor flaws noted, easy repairs, an item can be worn immediately after purchase.
Good: Minor flaws noted, might be repairable, wear item with care.
Fair: Significant amount of flaws noted. A possibility of wear and repair.
As Found: A truthful piece beyond repair but may have value for study or costume.
Measurements - Clothes
There are two types of measurements below.
First measurement, the body.
Second measurement is laying garment flat on table and measuring flat across garment. Take that number and multiply by two. For example, if you measured 13 inches across, then the final number is (13 x 2) 26 inches.
Body Measurement:
Bust
For bust size measure around your chest at the fullest point of your bra cup. Make sure to go under your arms, not around them!
Natural Waist
Measure around the smallest part of your waistline with one finger between your body and the measuring tape.
Hips
Stand with your heels together, keeping tape straight and parallel to the floor. Measure around the fullest part of your hips.
Flat Measurement:
Shoulders - measure from one shoulder seam to other shoulder seam. If shoulder seam does not exist, measure natural shoulder length where actual shoulder would be.
Vintage pieces can purposely have a smaller shoulder width. Use this as a guide when taking measurements.
Bust - measure from underarm to underarm where sleeve starts. For final measurement multiply this number by 2. (17 x 2) 34 inches.
Waist - measure smallest part of waist to the other side. Multiply by 2 for final number. (12 x 2) 24 inches.
Sleeve length
Requires two measurements.
First, measure from underarm pit of sleeve to hem.
Second, measure by placing one end of the measuring tape at the center of the back of the neck. Run tape over your arm and let hang down to hand.
Some measurements are listed starting from the top of the sleeve to wrist.
Dress Length
Stand with your heels together, keeping tape straight and perpendicular to the floor. Measure from the high point of your shoulders down the length of your back.
Skirt and Pants Measurements:
Waist measurement - measure flat across waist to other side. Multiply number by 2. (13 x 2) 26 inches
Hips - measure from widest point of the hips to other side. Multiply by 2 for final measurement as above.
Inseam (Pants only)
Find a pair of pants that fit you well and measure down the inseam from the crotch seam to the bottom hem of the pants leg. Round the number to the nearest 1/2" to get your inseam length.
Outer Seam
Also measure the outer seam of the pants that fit you well.
Length
Measure from top of waist to bottom hem.

HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR HAT SIZE
What you will need:
Tape measure or string.
Instructions:
Place the tape or string around your head, keeping the tape 1/8" above the ears across the mid-forehead. Tape should be held firmly without being too tight. The basic idea is to measure your head where you like the hat to sit. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next size up.
Sizes may vary depending on the maker of the hat — especially vintage hats. Some do not have sizing inside of the hat.
Please remember different makers have different sizing, and a hat is not like other articles.
We measure all of our vintage hats inside circumference, crown, brim.

Please understand we cannot guarantee by following the above instructions you will have a perfect fit.
If a hat is a little big and you still love it, hat sizing strips are available at some online hat retailers. Felt pads can also be placed inside the hat's sweatband
